Ritchey has voluntarily issued a safety recall notice for WCS left (non-drive) crankarms manufactured between January 2003 and January 2005, as well as Pro left (non-drive) crankarms manufactured between January 2003 and August 2005. It is possible for the non-drive crankarm to fail or break unexpectedly, potentially causing loss of control and injury. All affected cranks are black with a silver machined face or are solid black. Silver Ritchey cranks are NOT affected by the recall.
|To check if your crank is affected by the recall, examine the backside of your non-drive crankarm. The four-digit code circled in red indicates the date on which the crank was manufactured. The first two digits are the year and the second two indicate the month. The crank above shows 0505, meaning it was manufactured in May 2005. All recalled WCS cranks will show a code of 0301 to 0501 and all recalled Pro cranks will show a code of 0301 to 0508.|
If you own one of the affected cranks in the chart below, please stop using the crank arm and immediately bring it to us for inspection and replacement. You may contact us for details and to set up an appointment. Or, you can contact Ritchey directly at 650-517-1878 for more information.
