Specialized 2004 Roubaix Bicycle Recall

Specialized has voluntarily issued a safety recall on 2004 model-year Roubaix Comp, Pro Bicycles and Pro Framesets (photos). About 3,000 sold nationwide from September 2003 through August 2004 for between $1,600 and $4,000. The cable stop on these bicycles can loosen, which can cause the rider to lose control and fall from the bike. This can pose an injury hazard to riders in a fall. Unfortunately, Specialized has received 2 reports of injuries.

Only bicycles with a single rivet fastening the cable stop to the frame are subject to recall. Bicycles with a double rivet fastening the cable stop to the frame are not subject to recall (photo). The model names of the recalled bicycles can be found on the top tube of the bicycles. If you own one of the affected bikes, please bring it in to us so that we may perform the recall check. As an authorized Specialized retailer, we will inspect it and offer a free replacement. Do not ride your bike until this check has been done.
